Justin Edwards Chooses Kentucky: Who Is Next?

Kentucky picked up a commitment from five-star wing Justin Edwards on Monday. Edwards joins guards Robert Dillingham and Reed Sheppard as the third commit into John Calipari’s 2023 recruiting class. Edwards is not the final member of the class as Kentucky is hoping for multiple more pledges in the coming months.

DJ Wagner, Guard

With the commitment of Edwards, all eyes point to DJ Wagner. The number one player in the class is seemingly down to Louisville and Kentucky. Kentucky had been seen as a favorite for years before Louisville hired Wagner’s grandfather. Odds seemed to favor the Cardinals for a while before 247Sports basketball analyst Travis Branham pulled his crystal ball prediction for Wagner to Louisville. Now, Wagner has partnered with NOCTA, Drake’s sub-brand under Nike. It seems unlikely that Wagner would commit to Louisville, an Adidas school, while being paid by Nike. All arrows seem to be pointing to a commitment to Kentucky, we just don’t know when.

Aaron Bradshaw, Center

Aaron Bradshaw had been viewed as a Kentucky lean for a while now. Insiders believed that a commitment could’ve happened before Peach Jam. That did not happen. Things are becoming a little cloudier in the recruitment of Bradshaw. Kentucky, Louisville, and the G-League are all in on the young big man. Opposite of the Wagner recruitment, Branham has pulled his crystal ball forecasting Bradshaw committing to Kentucky. A Kentucky commitment is still very much on the table, but as of right now, things are too unpredictable to guess as to where he’ll end up.

Ron Holland, Forward

There is nothing imminent regarding Ron Holland. Kentucky is still very much in on the talented forward and would welcome his pledge with open arms. It is seemingly down to Arkansas and Kentucky with the Hogs as the slight favorite as of now.

Ugonna Kingsley, Center

Ugonna Kingsley is last on this list because he is no longer a member of the 2023 class. Kingsley reclassified to the class of 2022 and will commit on Monday, August 1. He is expected to join the Wildcats. He may even be able to join the team when they head to the Bahamas in mid-August. Kingsley will have a prime opportunity to learn behind the National Player of the Year in Oscar Tshiebwe and the rest of the Kentucky frontcourt.

Kentucky is on the precipice of a potentially historic recruiting run over the next month or two. John Calipari has positioned himself well with all of Kentucky’s top targets. With all this recruiting news and the Bahamas trip right around the corner, Big Blue Nation should have a lot of fun over the next few months.
