Every week, we will be doing a TWSN MLB Series of the Week! Next up is the New York Yankees traveling to take on the Toronto Blue Jays at Rogers Centre in Toronto.
The top two teams in the strong AL East matchup for a weekend series. The Yankees come in with the best record in the majors and currently have a ten-game lead over the Blue Jays. These two teams are two of the best in the American League so it should be a showdown. Toronto started the year off slowly but has since turned it on and is playing good baseball. As for the Yankees, they have been great since the start of the season. They can hit, pitch, and run the bases well which makes them such a dangerous roster. New York is 18-9 on the road this season while Toronto is 20-12 at home this year.
New York Yankees Record: 47-16
Toronto Blue Jays Record: 37-26
Jordan Montgomery 2-1, 2.70 ERA vs Ross Stripling 3-1, 3.14 ERA
Jameson Taillon 7-1, 2.93 ERA vs Alek Manoah 8-1, 1.67 ERA
Gerrit Cole 6-1, 3.33 ERA vs Yusei Kikuchi 2-3, 4.80 ERA
What to Watch:
The Yankees come in with the best record in the major leagues behind strong starting pitching. They have one of the most dominant rotations around the game and are throwing out some of their best in this series. The Blue Jays also have a strong rotation so it will be two strengths going up against each other. Outfielder Aaron Judge has been on a tear this season and will look to take advantage again in this series.
Who Wins the Series:
Since these two teams are closely built and rivals, anything can happen. I like New York to stay the course and take two of the three games. It should be a close series, but I have the Yankees winning this.
