We finally have the matchup for the Stanley Cup Finals! It will be a heavyweight fight as two powerful teams in the Tampa Bay Lightning and Colorado Avalanche will meet up to decide who holds up Lord Stanley’s Cup. The Lightning come in as the two-time defending champions and are looking to go for the three-peat in this series. Only five other times in NHL history has a franchise won three straight championships so it would be a special accomplishment if Tampa Bay can finish it off. As for the Avalanche, this will mark their first Stanley Cup Final appearance since 2001 and they feel that they are long overdue for a title. This matchup features two of the best teams around the NHL and should be a fun, exciting series. Can the Lightning steal game one? Or will Colorado defend home ice and make a big statement?

How Tampa Bay can win: The two-time defending champions looked defeated through the first two games of the Eastern Conference Finals. They then found life and won four straight to win the series and advance back to the Stanley Cup Finals. Colorado will be the best team they have played this postseason and they pose a nice challenge for the Lightning. Colorado is extremely fast and skilled so the Lightning will need to match the energy early. One key for them in this game one will be to try and silence the crowd early. Tampa Bay can’t afford to go down early in this series because unlike the Rangers, the Avalanche likely won’t allow them to crawl out of the deficit.

How Colorado can win: The Avalanche have gone 12-2 so far in these playoffs, sweeping two of the three series they have played in. Colorado has been considered one of the best teams in the NHL over the last few seasons but have come up with playoff disappointment. This could be the year they get over the hump but will have a challenge with the Lightning. They will need to push the puck and try to get the Tampa Bay defense out of position. They will also have the reality of facing off against Andrei Vasilevskiy, who is arguably one of the best goalies in NHL history. Colorado can match the Lightning but will need to play their best going up against the defending champions.

The Spread Via FanDuel:

Moneyline: TBL: (+134) | COL: (-162)
Spread: TBL: +1.5 (-200) | COL: -1.5 (+162)

Final Prediction: Avalanche 4 Lightning 2

-Give me the Avalanche to come out and win game one on home ice. Tampa Bay is on a roll, but I think Colorado comes out and they hold serve. I like the Avalanche to win game one here.
