Former NBA and Purdue basketball player Caleb Swanigan died at 25 years old, Purdue men’s basketball announced.

Swanigan was a standout player for the Boilermakers during his time with the program. He played two seasons for Purdue and was named the Big Ten Player of the Year in 2017. Swanigan was a consensus first-team All American at Purdue.

After two stellar years at Purdue, Swanigan left for the 2017 NBA Draft where he was selected as the No. 26 overall pick by the Portland Trail Blazers. He had promise heading into his professional career.

Swanigan played with Portland for less than two seasons before he went to the G-League and eventually to the Sacramento Kings to close out the 2018-2019 season. Swanigan’s last stint in the NBA was with the Trail Blazers during the 2019-2020 season.
