Just two starts coming off the injured list with biceps inflammation, the New York Mets starting pitcher Tylor Megill is back on the injured list and this time, for quite some time.

After leaving his start on June 16 against the Milwaukee Brewers in the fourth inning, it was announced today that Megill has been diagnosed with a shoulder strain and has been placed on the 15-day injured list and won’t throw a baseball for at least four weeks.

Healthy starting pitching has been a nagging issue for the Mets all season long as Mets ace Jacob deGrom has still not pitched at all this year as he’s still recovering from a stress reaction in his shoulder. Fellow ace Max Scherzer is still recovering from his injury as he is trying to work his way back from a moderate to high grade oblique strain he suffered on May 18.

Both are making progress as Scherzer threw a 50-pitch simulation game on June 16 and deGrom continued his progress throwing in bullpen sessions. Megill is currently 4-2 on the season with an ERA of 5.01 in nine starts.

The Mets starting pitching rotation will have to step up again with their top three arms out as they open up a four game series with the Miami Marlins tonight.
