The New York Jets Can Be The 2022 Cinderella Team

The New York Jets have been rebuilding for quite some time, but this rebuild feels different. The Jets have found their “guy,” and although I am not a firm believer in Zach Wilson, I believe the Jets are doing a lot to help out their franchise quarterback. In free agency the Jets signed Laken Tomlinson, C.J. Uzomah,  D.J. Reed, Jordan Whitehead, Tyler Conklin, Jacob Martin, and Solomon Thomas. The Jets were able to get some protection for second-year quarterback Wilson with Tomlinson, and were able to add some new weapons with Uzomah, but the Jets also had a very good draft this year.

In the first round, the New York Jets had three very good selections. With the fourth pick they selected Ahmad “Sauce” Garder, the cornerback out of Cincinnati with a very strong case to be top notch cornerback in the NFL. With the 10th pick, they selected Garrett Wilson, who is a fast wide receiver that can create separation, which is exactly what the Jets need this year. Lastly, trading back into the first round the Jets selected Jermaine Johnson II, who was a top ten prospect, so this was an absolute steal at pick 26. In the other rounds the New York Jets still did well, and their roster looks totally different on paper, but what about on the field?

2022 Season

My biggest prediction this year is that the New York Jets will sneak into the playoffs. However, the main reason why I believe this is that their divisional opponents haven’t done much to show me that their team is way better, except for the Buffalo Bills. The New England Patriots were quiet in free agency, they didn’t really have the best draft this year either. While the Miami Dolphins did make a splash with Tyreek Hill, overall Tua Tagovailoa needs to stay healthy for the Tyreek Hill trade to make sense.

The New York Jets are turning over a new leaf, and having a leader like C.J. Uzomah in that locker room could be a big deal, especially with what he contributed to the Cincinnati Bengals and their Super Bowl run. Now I am not saying the New York Jets will make the Super Bowl, but as we know it is not impossible for a second-year quarterback to make the Super Bowl and the team had two really good drafts back to back. Don’t count out the New York Jets this year, they might surprise you.
