Should Davante Adams Be The Top Fantasy Football Wide Receiver For 2022?

It is a new year and a lot of familiar faces have found themselves on new teams. Davante Adams is one of those familiar faces. Back in March, Adams was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders for a first and second-round pick.

Adams is reunited with his former college quarterback Derek Carr and the recent success of Ja’Marr Chase and Jaylen Waddle point to this being a leading strategy.

Many Fantasy Analysts have Adams ranked as their number one receiver. I have him ranked as my number two receiver underneath Ja’Marr Chase who I will be making a video about next week to justify my ranking.

Adams is coming off the best season of his career with over 1,500 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns. I expect Adams to have another stellar year as a receiver, but there will be a slight dip in production compared to last year. This dip in production can mainly be attributed to the difference in personnel going from the Green Bay Packers to the Raiders. Adams in my opinion was the only viable receiving option on the Packers. Whereas on the Raiders, Adams can expect to share some targets with Darren Waller and Hunter Renfrow.

Adams’ arrival to the Raiders could go two ways. The other receiving talent could help alleviate the defensive attention that Adams saw last year, or more likely it will be Adams alleviating the defensive pressure that Waller and Renfrow will see compared to last year.

I’m sure that Davante Adams will finish the year as a top five receiver. But the uncertainty about what can be expected of him and the drop in targets have me wary of ranking him as my number one receiver in fantasy over Ja’Marr Chase who is going to be in the same but improved system.
