Phoenix Suns vs Dallas Mavericks 2022 NBA Second Round Playoffs: Game Six Preview

Phoenix absolutely destroyed Dallas in game five and continued the home dominance in this series. Game six shifts back over to Texas where the Mavericks season is now on the line and all they can do is hope that they have a better performance. The Suns would love nothing more than to eliminate the Mavericks in this game and finish this series but if the trend continues, the Mavericks likely will play better when this game tips off. Dallas only scored more than 20 points in a quarter just once during the game five loss and only scored 14 in the third. The Suns broke the game open in the third quarter and never looked back. They flexed their muscles and showed why they have what it takes to do something really special this season. It’s put up or shut up time for Dallas, so it’ll be interesting to see what Luka Doncic and the team have in store. Can Dallas stave off elimination and force a win or take all game seven? Or will Phoenix close them out?

How Phoenix can win: If Phoenix wants to close out the Mavericks in game six, they will need to bring the same level of focus with them from game five. They can’t just rely on the fact that a potential game seven would be in their building because come game seven, anything can happen. This team was the best in the NBA all season long and should go out and show it. They have bigger goals than beating the Dallas Mavericks and for that to occur, they need to rid themselves of this gritty Dallas team. Despite Chris Paul only scoring seven points, the Suns won easily in game five. This team is going to need a better showing from their star point guard if they want to close this series out in six games.

How Dallas can win: The Mavericks looked shell shocked come the third quarter of game five. They were putting up a nice fight on the road before halftime but then it started unraveling. Going back home, they can hope that their guys can hit shots and play better much like how games three and four went. Luka Doncic and Jalen Brunson were the only two Dallas players to score more than 10 points in game five and that’ll need to change. This is going to take the entire Mavericks squad to force a game seven and with their home crowd behind them, they absolutely can. It’s desperation time for Dallas and we’ll see if they can answer the call.

The Spread Via FanDuel:

Moneyline: PHO: (-132) | DAL: (+112)
Spread: PHO: -2 (-112) | DAL: +2 (-108)

Final Prediction: Phoenix Suns 117 Dallas Mavericks 110

Dallas had their moments in this series but Phoenix is the more well rounded and better team. Give me the Suns to close out the Mavericks and advance to the Western Conference Finals for the second straight season.
