We have ourselves a series! The Rangers tied up the series with a game four victory and now the scene shifts back to Carolina. The Hurricanes have been dominant at home this postseason and will look to keep their unbeaten streak on their home ice alive. This series is reminiscent of the Bruins and Hurricanes with the home teams winning every game thus far. It should be a loud atmosphere out in Carolina for game five and the Rangers will need to try and weather the storm early on. If they can quiet the crowd, it could be a tough game for the Hurricanes. However, Carolina is out to prove that they really are the better team and will look to take another lead in this series. Can the Rangers keep the magic going? Or will the Hurricanes shut them down?
How New York can win: The Rangers goaltending has been the talk of this series so far and is a major reason why they find themselves in a tied series. Igor Shesterkin propelled them to another win in game four and now the question is whether he can take his brick wall show on the road. If he can, the Rangers have to like their chances. They jumped on the Hurricanes in both game three and game four to tie the series but with this going back to Carolina now, the Rangers will need to show they can win on the road. The Hurricanes don’t need to win in New York to advance but the Rangers do need to grab at least one road victory. Putting pressure on the Carolina goalie with scoring chances has seemed to work well for the Rangers over the last few games so they should look to keep that up.
How Carolina can win: Carolina needs to be more physical from the point of attack. In the two games in New York, the Rangers were the ones that came out early and put it to them. As this series shifts back to Carolina, expect the Hurricanes to come out with more focus and effort. They may have gotten a little complacent as they went into New York but now the Rangers surely have their attention. The Hurricanes should look to use their speed to create more scoring chances and find a way to beat the tough goaltending of the Rangers. If they can get a lead early, it could really help them in the end result.
The Spread Via FanDuel:
Moneyline: NYR: (+120) | CAR: (-144)
Spread: NYR: +1.5 (-225) | CAR: -1.5 (+184)
Final Prediction: Hurricanes 3 Rangers 1
-I like the Hurricanes to bounce back here at home and push the Rangers to the brink of elimination. They tend to play better at home and will use their loud fans to help give them a boost in this pivotal game five and come out with the win.
