The Battle of Alberta hasn’t disappointed in the slightest thus far. With the series tied, the Oilers were able to go back home and take both games from the Flames. Calgary is now one game away from elimination but are heading back home for game five. They will need to find a way to regain momentum and force this series back to Edmonton. After game one, in which the teams combined for 15 goals, the series has slowed down a bit, However, the excitement from the action has now swayed whatsoever. The rivalry is fierce, and you can tell that both squads don’t like each other and badly want to beat the other. A spot in the Western Conference Finals is on the line tonight for Edmonton, a place they have not been too since the 2005-2006 season. Can the Oilers advance past the Flames? Or will Calgary return to form and extend this series?

How Edmonton can win: The Oilers have used their top line to do major damage in this series and it has really helped them over the last few games. They have been the more physical team and it has shown in how the games have played out. Goalie Mike Smith has been impressive for the most part for this team and is showing that even at his age, he can still be effective. They will need him to have another strong game if they want to close out the Flames on the road. The Oilers have done a good job at limiting the strong attack of the Flames so making sure that their defenders continue to play top notch defense will be a key in this game as well.

How Calgary can win: Calgary now finds themselves in a bit of a hole but one that they can climb out of. They have the offensive firepower to get back into this series, but it starts from them coming out strong from the start of the game. They didn’t really show up until the second period in game four and while they did have a chance to win the game, they fell short at the end. This is a resilient group, and they will need to find their groove and quickly unless they want their season to be over. Going back home should give them some comfort but they can’t rest on just that. Edmonton has shown that they are capable of taking a game on the road in this series so it goes back to the basics for Calgary.

The Spread Via FanDuel:

Moneyline: EDM: (+126) | CAL: (-152)
Spread: EDM: +1.5 (-196) | CAL: -1.5 (+162)

Final Prediction: Oilers 4 Flames 3

-After the last two games, I believe that Edmonton has taken control of this series and grabbed all the momentum. Even with this game being back home for the Flames, I like the Oilers to close them out on the road and advance to the Western Conference Finals with a victory.
