Kicking off Memorial Day Weekend, we have an AL East four game showdown between the Baltimore Orioles and the Boston Red Sox. The Orioles come to Fenway Park after dropping the last few games to the New York Yankees. Boston started the season out very slowly but has picked up the pace of late and are coming off a big 16-7 win yesterday over the Chicago White Sox. Baltimore took two of three in the first series between these two teams so Boston will be looking to get some revenge.
Baltimore Orioles Record: 18-27
Boston Red Sox Record: 21-23
Kyle Bradish 1-3, 5.74 ERA vs Garrett Whitlock 1-1, 3.58 ERA
TBD vs Nathan Eovaldi 1-2, 4.10 ERA
Bruce Zimmermann 2-2, 3.78 ERA vs Nick Pivetta 3-4, 4.25 ERA
Tyler Wells 1-4, 4.30 ERA vs Rich Hill 1-2, 3.86 ERA
What to Watch:
The Red Sox have played much better of late and will look to continue that during this series against a division opponent. They have looked like the team many believed they would be, and it has been powered by their offense. Neither of the two teams have strong pitching as this series starts tonight so runs could be scored all over the place. Fenway Park has a very short porch in right field so be on the lookout for the scoreboards to be high.
Who Wins the Series:
With this series being in Fenway and the Red Sox having been playing well lately, I believe that Boston will take three of the four games in this series. Baltimore has played the better teams in the division tough but aren’t quite there just yet to really compete. This is a different ballclub from when the two teams met earlier this season and the Red Sox should be able to win this series. Give me the home team to earn another series victory.
