NFL Draft Day One: Winners and Losers

1. New York Giants

The Giants had two picks in the first seven so you can argue that they would have a hard time messing this up. That being said, the men in blue did a really nice job of taking advantage of their board. Getting Kayvon Thibodeaux and Evan Neal with the fifth and seventh picks of the draft were both absolute steals. Both prospects could have been considered the best at their respective positions. This is a nice start for the Giants draft.

2. New York Jets

Let’s keep the love going for the Big Apple. The Jets landed the best corner in draft with Sauce Gardner with the fourth pick. The former Bearcat will be a star in New York. With their second first rounder the Jets selected Garrett Wilson out of Ohio State. The former Buckeye is electric and should give Zach Wilson a big-time playmaker for years to come. Then, just when you thought the Jets were done, they traded up to the 26th pick to take edge rusher Jermaine Johnson out of Florida St. Johnson may be the biggest steal of the draft as of right now.

3. Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles were aggressive and really strengthened themselves on both sides of the ball. First, they made the move to select Jordan Davis out of Georgia. The big defensive lineman will be the centerpiece of the defensive line for years to come. The Eagles then traded their eighteenth pick along with other compensation for wide receiver AJ Brown from the Titans. Brown is a proven commodity who will pair nicely with Devonte Smith. Philly made big time moves tonight.
