The Sacramento Kings will host the New Orleans Pelicans tonight at 10 PM EST.
The Kings enter this game at 29-50, placing them at 12th in the Western Conference, and officially out of the playoff race. They’ll be without key pieces De’Aaron Fox, Domantas Sabonis, Richaun Holmes, and Terence Davis in this one.
As for the Pelicans, they sit at ninth place in the West with a record of 34-44, still fighting for a playoff spot. Zion Williamson and Kira Lewis Jr. remain out, while Jonas Valanciunas comes in as questionable.
How Sacramento Can Win:
The Kings will be without multiple key pieces tonight, so it’s important that the remaining regulars step up. Look for Davion Mitchell to play a key factor in this one. Without Fox, Sacramento will need their other explosive guard to push the tempo and give them scoring production. Mitchell’s coming off two underwhelming shooting performances, but he had a five-game stretch with 20-plus points right before that.
Sacramento has nothing to lose in this game. New Orleans does. The Kings should look to use that to their advantage and continue to push the pace, even without De’Aaron Fox leading the charge.
How New Orleans Can Win:
The Pelicans have far more at stake in this game. Sacramento has already been eliminated from the playoff picture, and they’ll be without multiple key players. The Kings have struggled with rim protection and rebounding all year, and without Domantas Sabonis or Richaun Holmes, that weakness becomes even more glaring. New Orleans should look to control the boards, score at will in the paint, and pounce on turnover opportunities defensively, as the Kings will be turning the keys over to some more inexperienced players tonight.
