The NFL Draft is almost upon us! This is one of the more exciting times for fans and franchises because there is hope among everyone. For fans, they get to watch their teams try to get better with the hope of a potential Super Bowl win. For franchises, it’s a little more complicated because if they don’t get things right, jobs are on the line. Every year there is interest in what certain teams will do because what they do directly impacts other clubs. Here are my most intriguing teams as we enter into the NFL Draft:
Jacksonville Jaguars
-Of course, the team that picks first overall has to be on this list because they will be setting the tone for the draft. What they do at number one is going to have a domino effect on the rest of the top five selections. Reports are swirling that they are leaning towards going with Travon Walker out of Georgia but that they could also go with Aidan Hutchison from Michigan. Either way, the Jaguars would be getting a talented pass rusher to add to their defense. It also doesn’t hurt that this team has 12 total picks entering the draft so they should be able to improve their roster enough where they won’t be picking first overall for a third straight season next time around.
New York Jets
-The Jets helped their offensive line out a bit during free agency but can still address it here in the draft if they choose. They have nine picks in this draft including two in the top ten so they should be able to help their roster out. Reports have them being linked to taking a cornerback with their fourth overall pick so if that ends up being true, they would have addressed a need. They are building something out in New York and if they can surround quarterback Zach Wilson with some weapons, watch out. Robert Salah has the confidence of that team, and this draft could be a turning point for the franchise.
New York Giants
-Much like their New York counterparts, the Giants have two top ten draft picks. They can go in many different directions if they choose to do so. They need help on the offensive line, so they likely go that route with one of the picks. The Giants are also being talked about as a trade down candidate if the right offer presents itself. They also have nine picks entering this draft so adding more draft capital can’t hurt them. They have a ton of holes on the roster so getting better at almost every position makes sense. The moves they make in this draft could help shed some light on what they will do with quarterback Daniel Jones going forward.
