Jaden Hardy: Team Ignite 19-year-old Guard
Strengths:
- Tantalizing isolation scorer, dynamic as a space creator, flashes a nice stepback move, has the handle to combo his crossovers and hesitation dribbles to create space
- Potential as a shooter/shot creator, can shoot off movement, has NBA range, flashes of pull-up shooting, shot fake into a smooth one-dribble pull-up, can get hot from three
- Improved his slashing and finishing at the rim over the year, can get skinny and weave through traffic, flashes of some crafty at rim finishes, impressive up and under finishes
- Growing into a P&R scoring threat, shooting range means you can’t go under screens, natural advantage allows him to get to mid-range pull-ups, scoring gravity upside
- Underrated P&R passer, can bait two defenders to him and throw a great lob pass, exceptional at hitting his roll man, displays good feel and touch with a ball screen
- Flashes of good on-ball reps as a defender when he’s engaged, can play the passing lanes and disrupt certain actions, seems coachable and willing to improve here
Weaknesses:
- A very inconsistent year for him, started out shooting the ball abysmally from all levels of the court, struggled to adjust to playing against comparable athletes to himself
- A good but not great athlete, doesn’t have an explosive first step, not quick or twitchy in the half-court, playstyle forces him to be a notch up athletically from his opponents
- Finishing is still a major issue, struggles with length and avoids contact, very streaky shooter right now, takes quite a bit of questionable shots, ball stopping tendencies
- Not a good passer outside of P&R situations, very prone to turning the ball over, will try to force passes into windows that aren’t there, limited court vision and awareness
- Doesn’t apply himself enough on the defensive end, possessions where he offers no POA resistance, allows his man to take the screen and get by him, some bad fouls
