Whose House? Rams House

The Los Angeles Rams were able to hold off Tom Brady and advance to the NFC Conference Championship Game. Now, they are preparing to play the San Francisco 49ers, who they’ve lost to in the past six meetings. The idea going into this game is that if they don’t make it to the Super Bowl, the entire season was a “bust,” which is not the case. The last time the Rams made it to the Super Bowl was in 2019, where they lost 13-3 to Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. When the Rams were in the Super Bowl last, their quarterback was Jared Goff, now it’s Matthew Stafford. Stafford won his first playoff game of his career against the Arizona Cardinals in the Wild Card round, and was able to dethrone Tom Brady and reigning Super Bowl champions in Tampa. For the Rams to have come this far in the playoffs, especially with the roster they have, is expected. At the beginning of the season I predicted the Rams would make it to the Super Bowl and would be Super Bowl champions, and right now it looks like a possibility, but they’ll have to square off and beat the San Francisco 49ers.

Keys to Winning

If the Los Angeles Rams want to punch their ticket to play in the Super Bowl in their own stadium, they need to get past the 49ers. The 49ers seem to have the Rams number, but the Rams have been unreliable in keeping a lead, even when they come out with a win. In the last matchup between the Niners, the Rams were up 17-3 by halftime, then the 49ers started to come back and tied the game 24-24 to take the game into overtime. The main reason the Rams lost this game was that Matthew Stafford underthrew a pass to Odell Beckham Jr, resulting in an interception by Ambry Thomas. Due to this, the San Francisco 49ers clinched their way into the playoffs. The Rams will need to take care of the ball, unlike last week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Last week, the Rams fumbled four times and missed a field goal. Against the 49ers, the Rams will need to force turnovers, not be the source of turnovers. When Jimmy Garoppolo is sacked at least twice, he throws at least one interception. With the Rams having an elite pass rush, getting to Garoppolo should be easy, but against the Rams, Garoppolo has had no real impact on the reason why the 49ers have won. Being able to stop Elijah Mitchell, Deebo Samuel, George Kittle and Brandon Aiyuk is key. The Rams can’t let Elijah Mitchell run for over 80 yards like he has been. As for the offense, making sure Cooper Kupp and Cam Akers have ball security for this game is key.

This Rams team may not be the “Greatest Show on Turf,” but they have a lot of talent and are full of superstars on offense and defense. I have confidence that if they beat the 49ers and go to the Super Bowl, they will win. Not to mention, with the Super Bowl being in their home stadium, it’s their game to lose. If the Rams get the offense going with no turnovers, I have confidence that they will win. The game will be close, but if the Rams get past the team who’s been causing quite a stress to them, the Lombardi trophy may be theirs. The Matthew Stafford trade was worth it, and I fully believe Matthew Stafford will win his first Super Bowl and prove he was worth it.
