The Francis Ngannou story has been told by any and everybody with a platform, and now it’s time for us to listen to the champ himself. At the UFC 270 pay-per-view, headlined by Ngannou, in which he will defend his heavyweight championship for the first time (according to him it is not a unification bout as he doesn’t recognize the interim title) he will face interim champion, Ciryl Gane. Let’s dive straight into why HIS story needs to be told now more than ever.

The Story Told via Media

  1. The story that was told was broken down into three parts: his celebrity, his contract, his old team. Dana White came out and implied that Ngannou was not looking to defend his title, he in fact was looking to build his celebrity while going around the world after he won the belt. White had no issues with that, as he understands how these things go. However, White did want him to defend the belt in August, which according to him was not able to be done because Francis was on a world tour. This led to them making an interim title fight between Gane and Derrick Lewis, in which Gane won the title, just five months after the undisputed champion was crowned.
