The San Francisco 49ers are still in the playoff race having been able to hold off the Dallas Cowboys and the Green Bay Packers. Being the sixth seed isn’t easy, but for the Niners they have been able to overcome the challenges of road playoff games. The 49ers now have a 25% chance of winning the Super Bowl and a 50% chance of going to the Super Bowl. However, according to ESPN the San Francisco 49ers have a 40.6% chance of winning the NFC Conference Championship game. The 49ers opponent will be the Los Angeles Rams, in which the 49ers have a six game winning streak over the Rams. With a trip to the Super Bowl on the line, we can expect San Francisco to play their hearts out. The challenges they will have to face are Cooper Kupp, Matthew Stafford, Jalen Ramsey, Aaron Donald, Leonard Floyd and Von Miller. In the last meeting between the two teams, the game went into overtime however, a game-ending interception by Matthew Stafford sealed the deal for the 49ers making a trip to the playoffs. The 49ers have been underdogs throughout the playoffs, and to make the Super Bowl would be huge. Depending on the AFC Conference Championship Game winner, I would love to see a part three of San Francisco 49ers vs. Cincinnati Bengals in the Super Bowl.
Keys to Winning
The San Francisco 49ers may not have a roster like the Los Angeles Rams, but utilizing Deebo Samuel will be huge. The speed Samuel has won’t be enough to defeat the Rams single handedly, but it could overwhelm the Rams defense. The last time these two played each other, Deebo Samuel had 45 rushing yards and 95 receiving yards. Young stud Elijah Mitchell has proved to be a good fit for the Niners. Getting Mitchell going earlier will help, especially against a top Rams rushing defense. Another key point will be to limit the turnovers, especially against a Rams offense that will punish a team for turnovers. However, when turnovers are not in favor of the Rams and Matthew Stafford throws at least two interceptions in a game, his passer rating goes to below 80 percent. This as well adds pressure to Stafford and can cause him to become overwhelmed and force mistakes.
Beating the Los Angeles Rams means the 49ers punch their ticket to play in So-Fi Stadium for the second time this season, and a bigger chance at hoisting the Lombardi Trophy. Winning the Super Bowl not only gives fans hope, but for Jimmy Garoppolo it might mean his future with the team isn’t over just yet. If Garoppolo is able to win the Super Bowl for San Francisco, he will have overcome a challenging year, especially when the 49ers drafted what people thought would be his replacement this year. The 49ers haven’t won a Super Bowl since 1994 so their time is due and I think they have a good chance at winning it all, especially with being the underdogs this season. Winning as an underdog is huge and will definitely have people no longer underestimating the San Francisco 49ers.
