Denver Nuggets vs. Milwaukee Bucks Preview 1/30/2022

Nuggets (27-21) at Bucks (31-20)

The Denver Nuggets will be taking a trip to Milwaukee tonight. With both teams at full strength, the Nuggets look to extend their win streak to five, as the Bucks look to get back on track in pursuit of the top seed in the East.

We’ll be seeing two MVP front-runners go at it tonight in Nikola Jokic and Giannis Antetokounmpo, and there’s a chance this game comes down to who outclasses the other. Nikola Jokic has put the Nuggets on his back this season with Jamal Murray out, and if he can display a typical Jokic masterclass against an elite Bucks defense, Denver has a real shot. However, if Giannis Antetokounmpo takes over early and gets others involved, it should be Milwaukee’s game to lose.

Outside of the two stars, it’s clear that Milwaukee has the edge in terms of depth. Jrue Holiday has had one of the best seasons of his career, Bobby Portis has had the best season of his career, and they still have the likes of Khris Middleton, Grayson Allen, Donte DiVincenzo, and Pat Connaughton to chip in. The Nuggets have solid role players surrounding Jokic, as Will Barton has had a terrific season thus far, complemented by the likes of Monte Morris, Aaron Gordon, and Jeff Green. However, it’s clear that the Bucks have the advantage when it comes to the other guys.

The Milwaukee Bucks are 13-12 when they’re on the road, while the Nuggets are 13-9 on their home court. Denver has the advantage in this aspect, but Milwaukee’s all-around roster might just be too much. Antetokounmpo and Jokic will likely cancel each other out as both should have elite nights, but unfortunately for Jokic and the Nuggets, Antetokounmpo will just get more help from his supporting cast. Unless Jokic has a historically good night, or Milwaukee manages to go on a cold stretch, expect the Bucks to take the win on the road.
