The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Denver Broncos by a score of 22-9 on Sunday night at Arrowhead Stadium. Both defenses played well in this one, but it was the Chiefs who were able to prevail on a windy night in Kansas City.

The Chiefs kicked off the scoring on their opening drive of the game when Patrick Mahomes scrambled from 10 yards out to put Kansas City ahead early 7-0. Harrison Butker closed out the first quarter scoring with a 56 yard field goal to put the Chiefs up 10-0 at the end of the first quarter.

To begin the second quarter, Brandon McManus kicked a 43 yard field goal to bring the Broncos within one score at 10-3. However, that would be the only score of the second quarter and the closest the Broncos would get all night.

Butker kicked his second field goal of the night in the third quarter to put Kansas City in front 13-3. Much like the second quarter, one field goal was all either team could manage. The Chiefs led 13-3 after three quarters of play.

For the third time in as many quarters, Harrison Butker kicked a 26-yard field goal to make the score 16-3. Shortly after this field goal, Daniel Sorenson stepped in front of a tipped Teddy Bridgewater pass and took it the distance. Butker would miss the extra point to make the score 22-3. In a last ditch effort to salvage momentum heading into next week, Bridgewater found running back Javonte Williams out of the backfield late in the fourth quarter to make the score 22-9 after a failed two point conversion attempt. The game would end with the same score.

Patrick Mahomes and company did not look great on offense, but the Chiefs defense stepped up once again. This defense is picking up momentum and playing its best football of the year at just the right time. Look for them to continue their impeccable play next Sunday at home against the Las Vegas Raiders.
