In the UFC Vegas 42 main event, Max Holloway defeated Yair Rodriguez via unanimous decision.

The first round saw incredible action with both fighters going back and forth. Rodriguez threatened with kicks, but Holloway proved that he is one of the best boxers in the UFC. Rodriguez attempted 97 strikes in the first round.

Rodriguez worked in leg kicks on Holloway in the early part of round two, but Holloway closed the distance and made the striking aspect closer. The fight remained competitive through 10 minutes between Rodriguez’s calf kicks and Holloway’s punches.

Holloway implemented his ground game in the third round and hurt Rodriguez on the ground. Rodriguez remained a threat but Holloway landed a double leg takedown, which changed the round.

In the fourth, Holloway kept up his striking control and grappling control. He started to take a distinct lead in the second-to-last round. Holloway held onto his control on the scorecards in the fifth round and cruised to a win. Up next, Holloway will likely see a third title fight against Alexander Volkanovski.

In the co-main event, Marcos Rogerio de Lima stopped Ben Rothwell in the first round via TKO. It was a result that surprised many people but that is expected in the heavyweight division.
