Eric Musselman makes a splash in the recruiting world with elite top 10 combo guard Nick Smith Jr committing to the Arkansas Razorbacks. Smith is the highest recruit for Arkansas thus far, a great recruiting class that is now up to four top 100 commits now giving Arkansas a top five recruiting class in the nation for the 2022 season.
Smith is going to step in on day one next season for the Razorbacks and be the number one scoring option for the team as they compete in the ever-growing in difficulty SEC. Smith will likely be a one-and-done athlete, as he is likely going to be a top 10 if he is able to translate his scoring to the next level and from everything displayed from the rising high school senior has demonstrated. Smith’s ability to score at all three levels sets him apart from most players that he goes against on a regular basis. Smith is going to have to fill out his frame before he goes into college, as he has struggled with contact against bigger players and often can be scored on in the paint. Although this is not the easiest fix in the world it is among the only knocks on Smith’s game and can be fixed from now until he arrives on Arkansas campus for summer workouts next year.
Eric Musselman has done a tremendous job as the Razorbacks coach since being hired back in 2019 as the Razorbacks are serious contenders not only for the SEC but having serious aspirations for a national championship and with players like Nick Smith Jr. Coming to Arkansas we could very be seeing a new power house develop in college basketball.
