BREAKING NEWS: The Cincinnati Bengals Release

The Cincinnati Bengals have officially released Andy Dalton after multiple attempts to trade the 3-time Pro Bowl QB. With the first overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Bengals selected Heisman winner Joe Burrow out of LSU. As the QB of the LSU Tigers, Burrow led his team to a historic season, as they captured the BCS National Championship.

Cincinnati had been looking to move on from Dalton with Burrow set to become the next franchise QB, but with no team willing to pay the asking price for the 9-year veteran, the Bengals decided to release him.

Dalton amassed 31,594 passing yards with 204 TDs and a completion percentage of 62% in his 9 years in Cincinnati. He led his team to four playoff appearances, but has not been back to the playoffs since 2014.

There are a few teams that could look into signing Dalton, now that he is a free agent, in hopes of having him compete for the starting job or to mentor a young QB. The New England Patriots and Jacksonville Jaguars could be in the mix.
