UFC 223 will take place tonight in Brooklyn, New York in front of an agitated fan base. Dana White and the UFC have managed to break a record and not one you’d necessary like to be known for. The UFC has managed to change main events a record setting three times in a week! UFC fans went through a whirlwind of emotions this week with the highly anticipated lightweight title bout Nurmagomedov vs. Ferguson, until Ferguson was pulled from the fight after injuring his knee. The replacement fight was set to be a long awaited dream bout between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Featherweight champion Max Holloway- that was until Holloway was pulled after he was deemed medically unfit. This brings us to the current main event which will feature Khabib Nurmagomedov taking on Al Laquinta. This bout is less about the fans but more so about giving Khabib a worthy opponent and a chance to capture the lightweight belt. One can only imagine the mental toll this week has taken on The Eagle Nurmagomedov, having to prepare for three opponents on short notice. Either way, anytime Khabib steps into the Octagon its a spectacle.
Khabib Nurmagomedov (25-0) vs. Al Laquinta (13-3)
