I can’t imagine that EVERYONE reading this won their Fantasy Football League this year, hell I didn’t even make the playoffs in mine, but Congrats to all that did, and for everyone else, let’s get ready to crush 2021.
Week 17 is a very unpredictable week where literally anyone could make a play, we have guys filling in for injured players or resting players that will make their NFL debut today, a lot of which I’m sure we’ve never even heard of! So we have to be sure to pick the right matchups/plays, let’s spotlight a few players that have a good matchup this week.
LOS ANGLES RAMS RB MALCOLM BROWN is a play I like based on volume. With Darrell Henderson on the IR, Cam Akers iffy to play & the Rams likely having to lean on 2nd year undrafted FA QB John Wolford, Brown should see his most amount of touches (10) since week 8. I’m not expecting Brown to be RB1 for the week or anything here, but I like Brown to score and get about 80-90 total yards, maybe a few catches making him a great RB2 or DFS play. Lets not forget the Rams Week 17 opponent the Arizona Cardinals were hammered last week by Jeff Wilson Jr for 204 total yards and a TD.
TENNESSEE TITAN WR AJ BROWN is putting together a very nice NFL resume his first 2 years in the league. Brown needs 127 yards to tie last year’s mark of 1051, after missing 3 games in 2020 due to injury. Brown has surpassed last year’s totals in receptions & TD’s, and is looking good in a Week 17 matchup vs the Houston Texans. Houston is on the verge of some major off-season coaches/players changes, and for some I’m sure this season can’t be over fast enough. Last week Houston gave up 37 points to Ryan Finley & the Cincinnati Bengals, so I LOVE Tannehill, Henry and the Titans offense to get primed for the playoff run and roll through Houston.
MINNESOTA VIKINGS TE IRV SMITH JR is beginning to repay the Vikings on their 2nd round draft investment from the 2019 draft. Since stepping into the “Starting role” in Week 14 with Kyle Rudolph sidelined, Smith has been solid to say the least. He’ scored 5 TD’s in the last 5 games & is coming off a 2 TD performance last week vs New Orleans. Speaking of 2 TD’s, this week Irv Smith Jr gets the Detroit Lions Defense that is fresh off allowing Buccaneers TE Rob Gronkowski 2 TD’s last week. The O/U in this game is set at 54, I expect Irv to be a Top 10 TE this week, and continue to boost his 2021 Fantasy Football draft stock.
MIAMI DOLPHIN RB MYLES GASKIN has returned back to being the lead dog in the Miami Dolphins backfield. Since returning from a short Covid absence Gaskin has handled over 75% of the RB snaps, even with Salvon Ahmed healthy/active. I like this play also based on his potential volume. Miami QB Ryan Fitzpatrick will miss the Week 17, must win matchup vs division rival Buffalo due to Covid, so Tua Tagovailoa steps back in under center. I’d look for Miami to lean on the run with Tua back, getting Gaskins the ball via ground or air. This Bills defense, as good as it is, has allowed 140 rush yards the last 2 weeks so that’s something to watch.
