TWSN Fantasy Football Advice: Week 13

Geez, Week 12 in the National Football League provided many headlines. From another COVID related postponed game, to a practice squad WR making his league debut as a QB, and of course a few suspensions. 2020 please go away…

But until then let’s look at a few matchups in Week 13 to help you secure that playoff spot or 1st round bye.

HOUSTON TEXAN WR BRANDIN COOKS is the lone star right now for the team in the Lone Star state, with Will Fuller V getting suspended for violating the substance abuse policy, Cooks finds himself as the only reliable playmaking pair of hands for Texans QB Deshaun Watson. Since Bill O’Brien was let go a few weeks back, Cooks has been a top 15 Fantasy WR & that’s in large part to Deshaun Watson playing some very good football. Cooks is usually good for 80 or so yards, but now with no Fuller V, look for Cooks to be in the double digit target zone and a high probability to score. Yes Indy has a very good secondary, but they allowed AJ Brown to go 4-98-1 last week and Davante Adams for 7-106-1 the week before so the 7 year veteran on his 4th team Cooks has a chance here to put up.

CHICAGO BEAR RB DAVID MONTGOMERY is a lone bright spot this week for the Chicago Bears who haven’t had much to show for amongst a 5 game losing streak. But usually a matchup with divisional rival Detroit Lions fixes most, in this case the Bears running game. The Bears have been playing shuffle with the offensive line the last few weeks (a combo of COVID replacement players, injuries & poor play rotation) have had a mere increase in production. Montgomery went for 103 rushing yards & added 5-40-1 in the air, by far his best game since week 2 vs NYG and has been seeing 80% of the team’s snaps since Week 5. The Lions ranked last in Fantasy Points Per Game to RB’s and are 2nd worst in Receiving Fantasy Points Per Game to RB’s. Add in that Mitch Trubisky is back under center for Chicago and he’s had some success vs Detroit in his short, underperforming career. Nonetheless, I like Montgomery to at least score here but also be around 100 scrimmage yards at least.

MIAMI DOLPHIN WR DEVANTE PARKER is proving that last year’s 5th year breakout was no fluke, as he is again ballin’ in 2020 given the circumstances. Miami is in the middle of a playoff run under 2nd year Head Coach Brian Flores and Parker is a big reason why. Parker finds himself in a juicy matchup vs a Cincinnati Bengal secondary that has given up the 5th most Fantasy Points to WRs. Not to mention the Bengals are getting torched by WR’s lining up on the outside, giving up performances such as 5/84, 6/116, 8/128/1 & 6/110 over the last few weeks. Last week Parker had his main man Ryan Fitzmagic back at the helm for Miami, where Parker finds himself catching about 3 more balls per game & gaining about 40 more yards per game vs starts by Rookie QB Tua Tagovailoa. Just to put the cherry on top of this matchup, the Dolphins will once again be without Preston Williams which will trickle down to more looks for Parker, as it did last week where he saw 14 targets and 8/119 vs NYJ. I wish Joe Burrow was playing for the game flow factor, but Parker will make his presence felt after all is said and done.
