Week 9 here we are, WOW 9 weeks of NFL Football, Covid Free Football (for the most part) & just a few short months ago who would have ever thought. But it has been some great Football mainly, we still have an undefeated team in the league and only 1 winless team. Let’s look at some juicy matchups to help secure that W this week en route to a playoff run..!
MINNESOTA VIKING RB DALVIN COOK…I know it’s kind of a no-brainer to put him on here after last week’s 200+ yard, 4 TD performance, but I think Dalvin Cook can absolutely repeat his Week 8 performance here in a great matchup vs the Detroit Lions. A big divisional game at home, Cook will be facing a Lions defense that has given up 8 rushing TDs since Week 4, multiple rush TD’s in two straight & rank 29th vs RBs. Cook has scored a TD in every game he’s played this year and has scored multiple TDs three times. The Vikings are 4 point favorites here and have the potential to run the ball down the Lions throat, control the clock and move on with a W…
BUFFALO BILL WR STEFON DIGGS & the AFC East leading Bills have an opportunity to get their offense back on track in Week 9 vs a Seattle Seahawk Defense that has given up the most passing yards through the first 6 weeks in NFL history. Josh Allen in particular has struggled in his last few games failing to surpass 160 yards in 2 of his last 3 and he’s gone 2 straight games with zero Passing TDs. With that being said, Stef Diggs has managed to stay consistent in his inaugural season in Buffalo, after 8 weeks he trails DeAndre Hopkins by 9 yards for the league lead in receiving yards. The Seahawk D has struggled in the secondary all year and in particular they have had a difficult time covering the deep ball & that’s where Diggs makes his bones. He ranks 4th in Air Yards & not to mention, Seattle is one of the best units vs the run so I don’t expect Devin Singletary or Zach Moss to do much damage, so it’ll be up to Josh Allen to move the ball through the air.
ARIZONA CARDINAL RB CHASE EDMONDS may finally be on the way to taking control of the Arizona backfield. After leaving their last game with a leg injury, Kenyon Drake will most likely take a backseat to Chase this week even if he’s healthy enough to dress. The Cardinals host the Miami Dolphins who are coming off an incredible 28-17 defeat of the LA Rams in Tua Tagovailoa’s debut start in 2020. The Dolphins rush D has given up 100+ yards and a score in three straight games which may be in part to teams funneling the run from Miami’s lock tight secondary that features Byron Jones & Xavier Howard. Edmonds ranks top 10 in Pass Targets and has the 2nd most FP per touch given his limited use thus far, so getting the ball 18-20 times should result in big time numbers for the 3rd year, 4th round pick from the University of Fordham.
PITTSBURGH STEELER RB JAMES CONNER is the leading ball carrier for the only undefeated team in the NFL & he’s about to take on the team that has allowed the most rushing yards to RBs, and I think it’s safe to say “Gitty Up James Conner”. Since stumbling out of the gate Week 1 vs the NYG, Conner has had a minimum of 18 touches per game, scored 5 TDs and has eclipsed 100+ yards from scrimmage 4 times. You can say James Conner has found a groove and all signs point to that continuing in Week 9. The Steelers travel to Dallas to take on the reeling Cowboys, who will start their 4th QB in 5 weeks as either Cooper Rush or the 6 year journeyman Garrett Gilbert will be at the helm in Big D this Sunday. I like the game flow here for Connor and the run game, the Steeler D will suffocate whichever QB gets the call under center for Dallas and Connor will run his way to RB! This week.
