BREAKING NEWS: Gronk is Joining Tom Brady in Tampa Bay

Just a short time ago, Ian Rapoport reported that Rob Gronkowski was interested in coming out of retirement to play with Tom Brady in Tampa Bay. This trade is now a reality following the news from Adam Schefter.

The New England Patriots are sending Rob Gronkowski and a 7th round pick to the Buccaneers in exchange for a fourth round pick.

Tampa Bay now has a stacked on offense with Tom Brady taking over at QB and Rob Gronkowski joining the likes of WRs Mike Evans and Chris Godwin in what should be an explosive passing game.

Before retiring at the end of the 2018-2019 season, Gronk racked up 521 receptions for 7,861 receiving yards with 79 TDs in 9 seasons with the Pats. It will be interesting how Gronkowski plays in 2020 after taking the 2019 season off. The year of rest could make Gronk a bigger receiving threat than he previously was.

With the acquisition of Gronk, Tampa Bay will now look to trade away TE O.J. Howard. The Alabama product is currently in the fourth year of his rookie deal, and his contract could extend to the 2021 season if his fifth year option is picked up.

It will be interesting to see if the Patriots get back on the phone with Tampa Bay to try and acquire Howard after dealing them Gronk, but a team like the Indianapolis Colts could also be in play after they lost Eric Ebron in free agency.
